Sony Pictures reveals the cast and plot for the Smurfs movie reboot

Confirmado: Los Pitufos II/The Smurfs II (2013)The Smurfs are back!

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced last week during the Global Smurfs Day the cast and plot of the new Smurfs movie Get Smurfy.

American singer, songwriter, and actress Demi Lovato has signed to voice Smurfette, with American comic actor Rainn Wilson ( Monsters vs. Aliens, The Office) voicing the Smurf nemesis, Gargamel.  Papa Smurf will be played by the American actor, tenor singer, voice artist, and comedian Mandy Patinkin (The Princess Bride, Homeland).

The new feature-length animated adventure, finds Smurfette and her brothers trekking through the uncharted Enchanted Forest to try and discover a fabled Smurfs village before Gargamel does. Along the way, some of the mysteries of their origins are brought to light: do Smurfs come in any other colors? Are their mushroom houses organic? And why are there 99 boys and only one girl?

Looks like this movie will be a reboot since Smurfette said in the first movie that Gargamel created her, and Papa Smurf helped her become a good girl.

Get Smurfy  hits theaters worldwide on march 17, 2017.  The film will be directed by Kelly Asbury (Shrek 2, Gnomeo & Juliet), produced by Jordan Kerner (Charlotte’s Web, The Smurfs) and co-produced by Mary Ellen Bauder (Hotel Transylvania).

This new smurfs movie will be released on the same date as the Beauty & The Beast film starring Emma Watson.
