Spanish Singer Alejandro Sanz has a petition for Hugo Chavez. In a letter written through his official twitter, Sanz, told him the following:

«President Chavez, I want to sing in your country, May I? Will you give me your word that nothing will happen to my fans, to my people, to my enterprise, or me? If you allow me to, and you give me your word that nothing will happen, I will close my tour on Venezuela. It’s up to you.»

According to past news reports, in 2007, the National Venezuelan Government had banned Alejandro Sanz from singing in Venezuela for criticizing president Hugo Chavez in 2004 a few days before the referendum that gave the Venezuelan people the option for the president to have a Unlimited Term. the criticism was motivated by the opposition.

Alejandro Sanz said back them in an non-serious tone: «I don’t like your president, but I also don’t like presidents of other places, I dislike mine as well. I think you done well.»

Will Chavez get the letter? He has twitter after all.  Find out soon…

Update 6/25/2012:  Chavez did allowed him to sing back in 2010, and according to terra he’s coming back  to venezuela to close his latest tour.
